The XRP Ledger expanded its role in the tokenization sector after Ondo Finance completed a Treasury settlement pilot involving Ripple, Mastercard, and JPMorgan.
The development arrived alongside major internal changes at the XRP Ledger Foundation, which introduced a new leadership team and released XRPL version 3.1.3.
XRP Ledger Gains Attention In Tokenization Push
The XRP Ledger drew renewed attention after Ondo Finance completed a tokenized Treasury settlement pilot tied to Ripple, Mastercard, and JPMorgan.
The pilot increased discussion around blockchain-based settlement infrastructure and competition among networks seeking institutional tokenization activity.
Several XRP ecosystem members argued that XRPL remains well-positioned for firms exploring tokenized financial products because of its operational history and built-in settlement features.
Developer Luke Judges stated that projects focused on tokenized assets should consider Ripple and XRP Ledger because of the network’s reliability and long operating history. He noted that XRPL has operated for more than 14 years while maintaining strong uptime.

Judges also argued that XRPL’s native protocol functions reduce some risks associated with custom smart contract deployment.
Instead of building entirely separate contract frameworks, issuers can use settlement and asset-management functions already integrated into the network architecture. That structure could reduce operational complexity for firms entering tokenized asset markets.
Tokenized Treasuries have become one of the fastest-growing sectors within blockchain finance as institutions increasingly test on-chain settlement infrastructure.
Ondo Finance remains among the largest firms operating in that segment, making the pilot especially notable for XRP Ledger’s institutional positioning.
XRP Ledger Foundation Introduces New Leadership Team
In a separate development, XRPL Foundation also announced a new leadership structure. It works to expand development and community activity across the ecosystem.
Brett Mollin was introduced as Executive Director. The Foundation said he will oversee strategic direction and coordinate work across engineering, operations, partnerships, and community efforts.
The organization described him as someone with long experience in the digital asset sector and deep knowledge of XRP Ledger history.
Denis Angell became Chief Technology Officer after years of contributing to the XRPL codebase.
He is moving from XRPL Labs to the Foundation and will lead engineering work tied to protocol development, amendments, and production standards.

Rene Huijsen was named Director of Operations. The Foundation said he will manage operational and financial coordination.
Huijsen previously worked at Ripple as Director of Payment Operations and also participated in a Bank for International Settlements task force focused on cross-border payment interoperability.
Community member Hussein Zangana, known widely as Vet, was named Director of Community.
It is worth noting that his responsibilities include communications, developer engagement, validator relations, events, and educational content.
He has been active across the XRP ecosystem through infrastructure support, amendment proposals, livestreams, and project development.
The Foundation said the new team will work closely with ecosystem participants while promoting open collaboration and public engagement.
XRPL Version 3.1.3 Goes Live
The XRP Ledger Foundation also confirmed the release of XRPL version 3.1.3.
According to the Foundation, the release contains a default-yes amendment fix, meaning validators only need to upgrade software without additional governance voting steps.

The Foundation urged node operators to update infrastructure quickly while adding that a detailed technical blog post will follow after the amendment activates.
The update arrived during a period of accelerating development activity across XRPL as competition around tokenized real-world assets intensified.
