Ethereum News: Lazarus Sells 911 ETH as Network Activity Hits Record

Key Insights:

  • Lazarus Group sold 911 ETH for about $2.28 million at a $2,499 average price.
  • ETH price remained near $2,500 after another short-term rejection.
  • Ethereum processed a record 203.9 million transactions during Q2 2026.

Ethereum news turned mixed on Sept. 15 after wallets linked to Lazarus Group sold 911 ETH. The transaction was worth about $2.28 million at an average price of $2,499.

The sale came as ETH struggled around the $2,500 region following another rejection above $2,600. However, the transaction represented only a small portion of Ethereum’s daily market volume.

Meanwhile, Ethereum’s underlying network posted record transaction activity during the second quarter. That strength came despite a sharp decline in monthly active users.

Lazarus Group Sells 911 ETH as ETH Price Falls

Latest Ethereum news shows that the Lazarus Group sold 911 ETH worth about $2.28 million at an average price of $2,499, according to blockchain tracker Lookonchain.

The movement adds fresh selling pressure to Ethereum after the asset suffered another short-term rejection. The sale was made through a series of transactions involving the Lazarus Group and Cow Protocol, according to the transaction data shared by Lookonchain.

Data showed a transfer of 911.404 ETH worth roughly $2.29 million from one Lazarus Group address to another before the ETH was moved through Cow Protocol. The transactions also involved USDT, with more than $2 million worth of the stablecoin moving through the same series of transactions.

Lazarus Group has been linked to major cryptocurrency thefts and has frequently drawn attention from blockchain trackers because of movements involving assets connected to its addresses. In this latest case, the sale of 911 ETH puts the group among the immediate sources of selling activity around Ethereum.

For Ethereum news, the sale is notable because it comes at a time when ETH is already struggling to hold recent price levels.

Ethereum News Points to Further Short-Term Pressure

The latest move comes as ETH price action remains under pressure. Market analyst Henrik Zeberg said Ethereum experienced another short-term rejection and argued the decline may not be over yet.

According to Zeberg, Ethereum could move lower first before making a stronger move higher. He described the current decline as a possible wave C move within a larger wave 2 correction.

He also pointed to a possible Federal Reserve rate hike as the obvious trigger for the expected short-term volatility. However, Zeberg said he views that weakness as temporary and expects ETH to push much higher after the initial volatility.

This creates a mixed setup for the ETH price. On one side, the market is dealing with direct selling from the Lazarus Group and a technical rejection. On the other, the longer-term outlook presented by Zeberg remains positive despite the expected decline.

For now, the $2,500 level remains important because the latest Lazarus Group sale took place around that price. Further selling could add more pressure if ETH struggles to regain the level.

Ethereum Network Activity Hits New Records

While the latest Ethereum news is focused on selling pressure, the network itself recorded strong activity during the second quarter of 2026. According to data from Token Terminal shared by BSCN, Ethereum processed 203.9 million transactions in Q2 2026. That was a 68.4% increase from the same quarter in 2025.

Average network throughput also reached a new record of 25.9 transactions per second. Token Terminal said both transaction count and throughput reached all-time highs during the quarter. Ethereum generated $52.5 million in transaction fees during the period, representing a 31.6% increase from the previous quarter. Meanwhile, ETH burn more than doubled to $17.1 million.

About one-third of the network fees were permanently removed from supply during the quarter. Coin holders also averaged 312.1 million addresses, up 27.4% from the same period last year.

However, monthly active users fell 30% from the previous quarter. This means the latest network figures present a mixed picture, with transaction activity and throughput rising sharply even as monthly active users declined.
