Ethereum Price Prediction: $3K Breakout Puts $45K Call in Focus for ETH

Key Insights

  • Ethereum price prediction strengthened as ETH moved above $2,700.
  • ETH futures open interest remained near $34.3 billion.
  • Analyst targets ranged from $3,000 to a speculative $45,000.

Ethereum traded above former resistance on Sept. 21 as buyers extended the September recovery across major spot markets. The Ethereum Price Prediction now centers on $3,000 after ETH reclaimed $2,550 and moved above $2,700.

The move mattered because spot strength arrived alongside large futures positioning and renewed exchange-traded fund inflows. That combination supported upside momentum but also increased liquidation risk if ETH loses former resistance.

Ethereum Price Prediction Tracks Break Above $2,550

CoinGecko data showed Ethereum near $2,723 in its latest Sept. 21 snapshot. The asset had gained 5.6% over 24 hours and 8.0% across seven days. Trading volume reached about $18.77 billion, while market capitalization stood near $332.3 billion.

TradingView data showed the Ethereum price had moved above its 50-week moving average near $2,542 on Sept. 18. Its Bitstamp feed placed the latest completed close near $2,620, keeping price above the earlier breakout area.

The recovery also extended a strong third quarter for ETH crypto. CFGI measured Ethereum’s Q3 gain at 64.0% through Sept. 20, using its stored daily readings. Its dataset placed the prior Q3 record at 69.4% during 2025.

That comparison left Ethereum close to the previous seasonal record before the quarter ended. However, final performance remains dependent on prices through Sept. 30.

Yahoo Finance’s historical series showed ETH closed June 30 at $1,569.58 and July 1 at $1,608.96. Using the July 1 close as the baseline, the latest CoinGecko price implied roughly 69% quarter-to-date appreciation. That calculation explains why quarter-return estimates differed across analyst posts and data providers. Different cutoffs therefore produced different Q3 readings.

Ethereum Price Prediction: Technical Structure Puts $3,000 in View

TradingView identified $2,672 as a weekly pivot after Ethereum pushed above the 50-week average. Its market page placed the next technical target at $2,950-$3,000 after confirmation above that area.

Ted Pillows said ETH could test $2,900-$3,000 after closing above $2,550 on the weekly chart. He also warned that a correction could follow that move.

His latest indexed profile kept the same level in focus. Pillows said ETH could revisit $2,400 if the weekly candle failed above $2,550.

Ash Crypto said ETH gained 6.77% during the latest weekly candle and broke above a recurring range. He placed $3,200-$3,600 in view if Ethereum retained that breakout.

Those targets remain conditional rather than confirmed forecasts. Ethereum still has to hold former resistance while absorbing supply between the current price and $3,000.

Derivatives Data Shows Heavy ETH Crypto Positioning

CoinGlass data showed Ethereum futures open interest around $34.30 billion in its latest indexed market snapshot. Futures volume reached $68.08 billion during the measured 24-hour period. Spot volume on that dashboard stood at $4.86 billion. Derivatives activity dominated the recorded turnover mix.

High open interest showed traders retained large leveraged positions during the advance. It did not indicate which direction would control the next move.

Farside Investors data showed U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs returned to net inflows on Sept. 18. The products attracted $29.4 million after three consecutive sessions of net redemptions.

Those prior sessions produced $142.0 million, $224.1 million, and $39.3 million in daily net outflows. The reversal improved the short-term flow picture, although one positive session did not establish a sustained trend.

Network developments also remain relevant beyond trading flows. The Ethereum Foundation said Glamsterdam remained targeted for mainnet during the fourth quarter of 2026.

Ethereum.org listed the Sepolia fork for Oct. 6 as the next scheduled milestone. The foundation said the upgrade targets revisions to block processing and Ethereum’s growing database.

Ethereum Price Faces $2,550 Support Test

DonWedge posted a $45,000 ETH target during the latest rally. An earlier post from the trader framed that level as possible during 2028 or 2029.

The target sits far beyond the technical ranges supported by current market data. A move from roughly $2,700 to $45,000 would require an increase exceeding sixteenfold.

Near-term levels offer a more testable framework. TradingView placed $2,672 around the weekly pivot, while Pillows kept $2,550 as his key threshold.

A sustained move above $2,672 would keep the $2,950 to $3,000 zone active. Losing $2,550 would weaken the breakout and return $2,400 to focus.

The next verifiable network milestone arrives Oct. 6 with Ethereum’s scheduled Glamsterdam Sepolia fork. Before then, traders can track $2,550 support, $2,672 resistance, ETF flows, and futures open interest.
