The Africa Blockchain Festival 2026 X World Token Summit 4.0 (ABF 2026) is introducing a unique high-energy side event. It’s the Africa Connect Unity Games, presented in collaboration with 5Stars Football.
Scheduled for October 15–17, 2026, at Arena One, Valley Arcade in Nairobi, the Unity Games treat football not just as a sport, but as a global networking protocol.
The Premise: Football as a Networking Protocol
The Unity Games are built around a simple truth: relationships forged outside the conference hall outlast the weekend. By placing African grassroots football on equal footing with a global innovation ecosystem, the event aims to drive:
- Organic Networking: Meaningful introductions made over a shared match rather than stiff elevator pitches.
- Cultural Exchange: Bringing together participants from every corner of the African continent and international delegates who flew in for the summit.
- Lasting Connections: Teammates form bonds that extend well beyond the closing ceremonies.
The Four Continental Squads & The Draft
The system enters every registered delegate into a balanced draft. It uses the draft to create evenly matched teams. The teams include diverse perspectives from around the world. Participants are grouped into four mixed-nationality squads:
- East Africa XI: Bringing together delegates from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ethiopia.
- West Africa XI: Representing the vibrant contingent from Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Cameroon.
- Southern & North Africa XI: Spanning from the Cape to the Mediterranean, featuring South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
- Global Select XI: Comprising international innovators flying in from Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East.
The organizers announce the captains one week before the event. They open dedicated squad WhatsApp groups once they finalize the teams. Delegates can then arrive in Nairobi already knowing their teammates.
Two Arenas: Play It on the Pitch or on the Pad
The Unity Games run two brackets side by side. This format keeps all attendees engaged, whether they prefer traditional sports or digital competition.
1. Arena One: The Pitch (7-a-side)
Designed for inclusivity and high participation, the pitch bracket features a 7-a-side round-robin format where every squad plays three matches. Eschewing exhausting full-team setups or sudden-death knockouts, this format guarantees more touches per player, better networking opportunities, and zero bench-sitting.
- Match Duration: 15-minute halves with a 3-minute half-time (~35 minutes total per game).
2. Arena Two: The Pad
For delegates who prefer digital competition, the gaming bracket runs side by side with the physical matches, offering another exciting avenue for friendly rivalry, skill display, and community bonding.

Gates open at 9:00 AM at Arena One, Valley Arcade, with six total matches culminating in the crowning of a single Unity Cup champion.
