Ripple News: Ripple Partners With Privy to Bring XRP Ledger Wallets to Stablecoin Payments and AI Agents

Key Insights:

  • Privy’s embedded wallet deal leads Ripple news on XRP Ledger stablecoin payments.
  • Privy plans XRPL wallets for AI agents using x402, with policy controls planned.
  • Ripple reported 13 million AI-agent payments on XRPL, or 25% of network activity.

Ripple news includes the partnership between Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy to bring XRP Ledger wallets into payment applications. Following this joint effort, developers can create wallets, sign transactions, and support XRP, RLUSD, and other XRPL-issued assets.

They will not need to build the wallet infrastructure themselves. The partners also plan to extend those capabilities to AI agents that make payments.

For customers, the wallets will sit inside applications rather than requiring a separate wallet connection. Privy said users can still export private keys and seed phrases to move elsewhere.

Developers will also have access to server-side wallets managed by applications. Those wallets provide the link between everyday payment services and automated transactions.

Ripple News Connects Embedded Wallets to XRPL Payments

Privy’s infrastructure will handle wallet creation and transaction signing for applications built around the XRP Ledger. Consequently, fintech developers can add payments involving the RLUSD stablecoin without establishing their own wallet systems.

The integration will also accommodate XRP and other assets issued on XRPL. Privy has not given launch dates for all planned features.

RippleX senior vice president Markus Infanger identified fintech products and agentic commerce as major uses in the Ripple news.

Privy co-founder Henri Stern similarly pointed to global payments and software-driven transactions. Stern also serves as Stripe’s head of crypto and stablecoins. Infanger said the arrangement links Privy’s wallet infrastructure with XRPL’s existing settlement capabilities.

AI Agents Could Use Wallets for x402 Transactions

Alongside customer-facing wallets, developers will be able to deploy wallets managed by their applications. Privy said AI agents could use them to hold funds and make payments.

One intended route is x402, which allows software to pay for online services. Privy also plans transaction policy controls and gas sponsorship to cover users’ network fees.

The Ripple news announcement follows earlier Ripple work on automated payments. Ripple said AI agents had processed 13 million payments on XRPL, accounting for about 25% of network activity.

Those figures date back to Privy’s XRPL integration. The company did not specify the period covered by that total.

Ripple joined the x402 Foundation as a Premier Member on July 14. Coinbase contributed the protocol, while the Linux Foundation took responsibility for its open governance.

Earlier, Ripple released an AI Starter Kit in June to support transfers using XRP and RLUSD. Ripple-backed t54.ai also introduced an XRPL AI Hub with support from Ripple developers and the XRPL Foundation.

Stripe Ownership and RLUSD Custody Provide Wider Context

The Ripple news follows Stripe’s 2025 acquisition of Privy and its $1.1 billion purchase of Bridge. Privy’s acquisition terms were not disclosed, and the wallet company continued operating independently.

Its reported customers included OpenSea, Blackbird, and Toku. The partnership now adds XRP Ledger support to Privy’s developer services.

While Privy plans wallet access for RLUSD, Standard Chartered introduced institutional custody for the stablecoin on October 12.

The service operates through the bank’s Dubai International Financial Centre branch. Eligible institutional clients can hold RLUSD there under the Dubai Financial Services Authority regulation. The bank also described a proposed trading collateral arrangement with Ripple and LMAX Group.

Under that proposal, institutions could trade against eligible RLUSD holdings while the tokens remained in custody.

However, implementation still depends on testing, final documentation, internal approvals, and applicable regulatory requirements. Separately, September reporting put RLUSD supply near $2.5 billion, citing CoinMarketCap. DefiLlama valued XRPL stablecoins at roughly $1.19 billion, including about $1.10 billion in RLUSD.
