POAP is short for Proof of Attendance Protocol. POAP is looking for funding/grants and is one of the top funded projects on Gitecoin. Gitcoin is largely a decentralized application that’s constructed on Ethereum’s platform.

It provides event travelers for their attendance verification through a system of collecting digital badges. To verify ownership of these unique badges, one needs to collect it either physically being available at the event or by claiming it digitally. It is basically for those people who like flexing about the Ethereum event they attended as these unique badges would like a hard blow and ultimate shout out of your presence in such events.

Their success lies in the numbers, as they have distrusted nearly seven thousand badges across sixty events.

How POAP badges implemented?

POAP badges are ERC-721 tokens. Once minted, they may be considered on POAPscan or any NFT-enabled interface (Etherscan, OpenSea) and most cell wallets.

Some Uses of POAP is as follows:

1. Host focused airdrops to badge recipients of unique events
2. Allow badges to be used as proxy for special governance polls
3. Use badges as sentimental collateral for lending
4. Partner with projects like Kickback for unique redemption schemas
5. Crown the “Ethereum Vagabond” based on the number of events attended

Why this Grant?

This entire project has been volunteer oriented- meaning this project was self funded in terms of both the money and time. They turned down ETH killers and other routes as they thought these projects corroded the beauty of what these guys were thinking to build. It means that each and every cost of making this project was from the pockets of developers and they like to think it as love for Ethereum and wider community.

Due to the recent coronavirus outbreak their events in which the developers planned to bring this project to the people cancelled. But being in quarantine the developers have been adding on some features, making it more enhanced and ahead in its field in the recent coming years.

These developers think the possibilities are endless and that is why they planned to Gitcoin Grant funding as a mean to help them in expanding their projects to another level. As a token of appreciation people who seen POAP in action should donate for their project. Any amount would be helpful for them and would help them in developing the project.
