NewLimit, a San Francisco-based company, is 1.5 years old. It aims to increase the number of healthy years by working on epigenetics. It has raised $40M for this project. To show their commitment, the CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, and VC Blake Bayers have funded $110 million.
Blake Bayers, Greg Johnson, and Jacob Kimmel are the other co-founders of NewLimit. The company does not have a CEO right now. The co-founders are handling all major responsibilities.
Working on Epigenetics Can Reverse the Functional Decline of Cell
Some inevitable jokes, Coinbase, like- billionaires trying to escape death by throwing money, are doing the rounds. But the founders of NewLimit say that the reprogramming of the epigenetics of a cell will reap the result. Working on epigenetics can reverse the functional decline of a cell responsible for aging.
They held their conversation with proof that in a lab, research is done on 13 generations of mice over 22 years. An old skin cell is taken out and replaced by a new skin cell from the young mice, and the mice all live an entirely normal life ahead. But they are not sure whether it is going to work on humans or not.
They clearly state that it may not work in different cell types.
