Shiba Inu Burn Rate Shoots 439%, Here’s How Price Reacts

  • Shiba Inu’s deflationary metric got a boost with a 439% burn rate.
  • The token is trying to wade off selloffs recorded over the past week.
  • Major ecosystem advances are helping to boost the coin’s market appeal.

The Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem is seeing increased activity, propelled by a surge in burning rate. Over the last 24 hours, SHIB’s burn rate climbed over 439%, suggesting increased token scarcity. This follows last week’s decline when 2.5 million SHIB tokens were burned.

Insights from Shiba Inu Burn Rate Data

The data from Shibburn shows that in the past 24 hours, 28,222,587 SHIB tokens have been burned, representing a 439% surge. These tokens were automatically sent to dead wallets, where they will be permanently removed from circulation.

According to Shibburn data, 410,728,805,282,532 SHIB tokens have been scorched from the total supply. As a result, Shiba Inu now has a total circulating supply of 589,271,194,717,467. Also, the Shibburn data reveals 5,798,949,778,995 SHIB staked.

The burn rate is an important metric in determining the ecosystem’s health. A surge in burn rate usually implies increased sentiments from the community. On the contrary, the reverse holds, marked by anticipation of declining prices.

Attempts to Reduce SHIB Supply and Grow Valuation

The spike in burn rate is closely tied to increased activity on Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s Layer 2 network. Shibarium transaction volume, which drives SHIB burns through gas fees, has seen increased growth. As Shiba Inu’s burn rate rises, crypto holders keep an eye on potential gains. Online players can also maximize their returns with free spins, providing extra chances to play and win without additional cost.

The Shiba Inu team launched the Shibarium portal earlier to automate the SHIB burn process. Although the ecosystem still relies heavily on Shibarium’s transaction volume to increase the burn rate, this has altered the game in a way that may favor future increases.

In a recent update, Shiba Inu’s marketing lead, Lucie, confirmed that the SHIB token supply is now immutable. Ryoshi, the pseudonymous Shiba Inu creator, destroyed the private keys so no one could adjust the token’s supply.

However, to control the market’s supply, SHIB tokens must be destroyed. Thus, Shibarium provides a cheap and efficient way for users to perform their transactions faster while burning SHIB tokens.

SHIB Price and Ecosystem Updates

The price of SHIB remained relatively low despite the 439% surge in burn rate. Per market data, Shiba Inu lost 1.7% of its trading price in the past week and 2.08% of its value in a month. At press time, the SHIB coin was trading at $0.00001322, with a mild 24-hour surge of 0.25%.

The trading volume decreased by 18.4% in the past week to $118 million, demonstrating that the burn rate increase has not been reflected in the market’s response.

Still, the Shiba Inu ecosystem continues to push boundaries with recent developments. The Shiba Inu team recently disclosed that Puppynet, Shibarium’s testnet, will be expanded at block 4,697,000. This upgrade aims to improve the network’s capacity, security, and functionality in line with enhancements on Ethereum.

The upgrade comes shortly after Shibarium reached a critical milestone. Notably, closed beta participants of Shiba Eternity minted 140,000 Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), with only 800 BONE in fees.
