Top Crypto Payments Gateways in Singapore: How They Operate?

Key Insights:

  • PSA legislation paved the way for seamless crypto payments in Singapore.
  • Singapore’s experiment with its IT2000 masterplan in the 80s laid the foundation of the digital economy.
  • Triple A was the crypto payment gateway in Singapore to obtain the Digital Payment Token license from the MAS.

Singapore is a blooming destination for fintech companies providing crypto payments services. Often referred to as a Crypto hub of Asia, Singapore didn’t embrace digital assets without oversight.

The island nation’s interest in blockchain technology goes back to the 80s. Singapore started to work on its IT2000 masterplan. The aim was to transform the city-state into an intelligent island. This laid the foundation for the country’s future digital economy.

Fast-forward to the mid-2010s, and the digital asset innovation moment began to make waves. Unlike other nations, Singapore decided not to shun but to join it. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) brought the Payment Regulation Act in 2019, which changed everything.

Passed in 2019 and enforced the next year, this legislation brought crypto exchanges and payment providers under MAS supervision. This shifted Singapore from just a crypto-friendly destination to a home of today’s 1000 blockchain companies, under a clear, regulated jurisdiction.

How Singapore Became a Crypto Hub?

Clear regulations worked as a foundation for turning Singapore into a crypto hub. The PSA Act introduced the concept of Digital Payment Tokens (DPTs). The DPTs’ initiative granted legal status to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, and facilitated the surge of crypto payments adoption.

PSA legislation made it mandatory for crypto and payment exchanges to apply for a license to operate. This act made it clear that the crypto firms are akin to financial institutions. That made them subject to AML (anti-money laundering) rules and KYC requirements.

MAS took one more major step by introducing a licensing regime for exchanges. The crypto exchange platform needed either a Standard Payment Institution license or a Major Payment Institution license. The type of license depends on transaction volume.

This step paved the way for the approvals of Independent Reserve, DBS digital exchange, Crypto.com, and Coinbase. However, some others faced rejection even though they met the compliance standard.

FTX, a crypto exchange, collapsed in November 2022, and it took many consumers’ investments down with it. Taking lessons from this incident, MAS overhauled its customer protection framework for digital assets.

The organization tightened the rules significantly and introduced new requirements for firms. It included Customer asset segregation, safeguarding of custody, and conflict-of-interest disclosures.

The Singapore government extensively supports fintech innovation and aids through the ease of rules and blockchain initiatives. The country also gets the advantage of its strategic location. It acts as a gateway between Southeast Asia, China, India, and Australia.

How to Handle Crypto Payments in Singapore?

The MAS mandates a structured regulatory approach for crypto payments and conversion. In Step 1, the consumer chooses the cryptocurrency of their choice during checkout. They send Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, or other supported digital assets to the shopkeeper’s address.

Then, in step 2, licensed payment gateways start the transaction. During the process, it ticks important checkmarks, such as wallet ownership, blockchain confirmation, and AML/KYC requirements. It also verifies the transaction’s legitimacy.

The third step includes the instant conversion. Due to crypto market uncertainty and volatility, most Singaporean merchants don’t hold digital assets. In this case, payment gateways instantly convert the cryptocurrency into Singaporean dollars (SGD) or another fiat currency.

The last step is merchant settlement. The merchant receives the payment in the bank account in 1 business day. That depends on the service they are employing. This approach allows customers to make crypto payments while letting businesses operate using traditional accounting and banking systems.

Top Crypto Payments Gateways Providing Services in Singapore

Triple-A: The Top Crypto Payments Gateway

Triple-A is a key player in the market and Singapore’s local crypto payments gateway. Eric Barbier is the founder and CEO of the platform. He first had the idea to start such a firm in 2018. Eric established Triple-A in Singapore later in 2020. The idea was to make stablecoin payments easy.

Their goal was to build the infrastructure required to transform stablecoins from an idea to a reliable, commercially viable commodity. In 2021, it became the first firm in Singapore to get MPI and DPT licenses.

Following that, the company began using stablecoin infrastructure to enable businesses to transfer money abroad. High cross-border fees, slow settlement, and limited currency access are all addressed.

It accomplishes this by instantaneously converting stablecoin payments to local currencies. This allows businesses to receive and deliver payments faster, with no volatility or custody risk.

TransFi

TransFi is another prominent payment gateway that works in Singapore but has its headquarters in Dubai. This finance business provides cryptocurrency payment gateway services with its TransFi checkout solution.

TransFi Checkout is currently active and deployable in Singapore. It supports both fiat and cryptocurrencies. Companies can now accept both SGD and digital currencies through a single operating point.

It allows enterprises to accept payments from over 100 countries and settle them in Singapore dollars (SGD). It contains over 130 digital assets, 40 currencies, and over 300 local payment options.

TransFi’s crypto and fiat payment gateway allows retailers to settle payments promptly in any currency they choose. With fixed exchange rates, they can convert bitcoin payments to the desired fiat money.

TransFi adheres to both local (MAS) and international compliance standards and engages with regulated partners. It allows for one-click plugins for popular e-commerce platforms, making deployment simple. Some of the names are Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and Wix.

BVNK

BVNK is an infrastructure provider for stablecoins. The platform is beneficial not only as a payment method but also for businesses looking to integrate stablecoins into their financial stack. This method works effectively for merchants and financial institutions that actively manage stablecoin flows.

Singapore is an important business location for BVNK because it serves as its Asia-Pacific headquarters. Anthony Man took over as General Manager of this project in May 2023.

In June 2023, the company sought a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license under the PSA, which he directed. However, as of June 2026, the corporation has yet to receive final clearance from MAS.

This delay is due to the complexity of the regulations. The MAS carefully reviews bids for stablecoin infrastructure and digital payment tokens. BVNK is using the central bank’s transitional framework to run its Asia-Pacific center from Singapore as it waits for long-delayed approval.

CoinsPaid

CoinsPaid is a crypto payment gateway that holds an Estonian license. They specialize in processing huge amounts of bitcoin transactions. Currently, the platform does not have any cryptocurrency or payment licenses in Singapore. Nonetheless, they continue to deploy cross-border organizational structures to deliver remote client care.

The platform serves businesses that process cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals. This includes scenarios with a high volume of transactions, such as gaming and forex.

CoinsPaid maintains a variety of coins, including popular ones like Bitcoin. It accomplishes this by processing payments and rewards automatically via API-driven technology. CoinsPaid provides a company wallet with self-custody options for managing cryptocurrency assets.

It also features point-of-sale devices for accepting cryptocurrency at physical retail locations and OTC desks for high-volume trades. In certain transaction-intensive businesses, the platform handles volume processing using industry-specific knowledge. It is less practical for traditional stores and businesses.

Fipto

Fipto collaborated with TerraPay to enter the Singapore market. TerraPay, a global payment infrastructure provider, partnered with Fipto to launch stablecoin-native payment flows in 2025.

After years of testing, they finally released it. TerraPay used the “stablecoin sandwich” concept during the testing. It converts fiat to stablecoins for cross-border transactions before returning to local currency upon arrival. The model helped to compare FX prices and settlement times to conventional trains.

It also reduced transit times and relieved liquidity pressures. The arrangement allows clients to directly fund payout partners with stablecoins, and receivers to accept them in supported markets. In February 2026, the company became Europe’s first stablecoin payment institution with a dual license.

They were granted licenses as Payment Institutions (PI) and Crypto-Asset Service Providers. Their proposal has been authorized by the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) law. The dual permission enabled end-to-end fiat and stablecoin payment processing via a single API.

CoinGate

CoinGate is a bitcoin payment management company that has yet to raise any cash. Irmantas Baciulis and Jonas Gilys founded this Lithuanian startup in 2014. Vilius Semenas, the CEO, is currently in charge of the business.

In the EU, CoinGate is subject to the MiCA license. Singaporean businesses can implement the cryptocurrency payment channel into their online stores. However, they must follow the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s (MAS) regulations for digital payment token services.

Businesses that prioritize digitization use the platform. This includes proxy networks, VPN services, hosting firms, and subscription providers. One of CoinGate’s primary advantages is the range of plugins available. Users can quickly and easily integrate WooCommerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, WHMCS, and Wix.

Overall, the crypto future of Singapore looks promising. It is increasingly becoming a hub of stablecoin innovation, asset tokenization, and institutional blockchain infrastructure. Ease of regulations is positioning the country as a blooming destination for cross-border digital payments.
