Ripple news returned to focus after Absa Corporate and Investment Banking highlighted its Digital Asset Custody service built with Ripple’s institutional custody technology.
The service gives corporate and institutional clients in South Africa infrastructure for safeguarding digital assets and managing private keys under banking-grade governance and compliance controls. However, the underlying partnership is not new. Absa and Ripple first announced the agreement on Oct. 15, 2025.
Ripple News: Absa Brings Digital Asset Custody to Clients
Ripple Labs has partnered with Absa Corporate and Investment Banking on the launch of Absa Digital Asset Custody, a service built around Ripple’s custody technology. Reece Merrick called the move a major milestone for institutional digital assets in Africa.
The service is designed to provide secure, compliant and bank-grade digital asset management on the continent. Absa CIB will use Ripple’s custody technology as part of the digital-first solution.
The announcement does not provide details on which digital assets will be supported, how many customers are expected to use the service, or the financial terms of the partnership.
For Ripple news, the development connects the company’s custody technology with a corporate and investment banking operation in Africa. It also gives Absa a digital asset custody service built with technology from a blockchain company.
Ripple News Puts Institutional Adoption In Focus
The partnership adds to the focus on institutional digital asset services, with custody remaining an important part of how financial institutions can manage digital assets. Absa CIB is providing the banking platform while Ripple Labs supplies the custody technology behind the service.

Merrick described the solution as secure, compliant and bank-grade. Those points are central to the announcement, which presents the service as a digital-first solution for institutional users.
Still, the shared post does not provide figures on assets under custody, transaction activity, or customer numbers. There is also no information on whether Absa plans to extend the service to other African markets.
For now, the confirmed development is the launch of Absa Digital Asset Custody. Ripple news around the partnership therefore centers on the practical use of Ripple technology by a banking institution rather than a new XRP product or market announcement. The launch gives Ripple Labs another institutional setting for its custody technology.
XRP Price Analysis As Futures Longs Rise
While the Absa and Ripple news is focused on custody, XRP price activity is also drawing attention. CW said upward momentum in the XRP futures market is intensifying, with long positions rising rapidly and moving above levels seen before the recent decline. The post said this increase is adding to upward pressure.
EGRAG Crypto is looking at XRP from a longer-term chart perspective. He compared the current 2026 setup with 2016 and pointed to periods where XRP recorded three consecutive green monthly candles during accumulation phases.

According to EGRAG, that pattern appeared in 2016, while 2026 has already produced two green monthly candles. September therefore, needs to close green for the same three-candle sequence to appear. He stressed that this condition comes first before any comparison with the earlier cycle.
EGRAG also raised the possibility of XRP reaching $50 if history were to rhyme with the earlier structure. However, he did not present the target as certain. His post described the comparison as a reading of historical chart structure and said the thesis would change if the pattern failed to repeat.
The two market posts offer different signals. Futures data points to stronger long positioning, while EGRAG is watching the monthly chart and September close. Neither post confirms a future XRP price, but both place attention on market direction as Ripple Labs expands its institutional footprint in Africa.
