Ripple news drew attention after the company announced final federal approval for its national trust bank. Ripple confirmed the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) decision on
Ripple News: OCC Approval Defines the Bank’s Role
The bank’s responsibilities separate oversight of stablecoin reserves from issuance of the tokens themselves. Standard Custody & Trust Company will continue issuing RLUSD under New York Department of Financial Services supervision.
Ripple National Trust Bank will instead provide a federally supervised structure for reserve management and related fiduciary services. That arrangement brings OCC oversight alongside the existing state regulatory framework.
Under its approved plan, the bank can manage separate reserve assets supporting RLUSD. It can also act as collateral trustee for those reserves on behalf of stablecoin holders.
The custody authorization covers institutional digital assets, extending the new bank’s duties beyond the stablecoin’s reserve structure.
CEO Brad Garlinghouse confirmed the authorization ahead of Ripple Swell. He described the charter as part of the company’s work across payments, custody and capital markets.

His announcement identified federal supervision as a central feature of the new institution. Ripple also said it would coordinate with the OCC and New York regulators as the bank begins operating.
RLUSD Reserves and Institutional Custody in Focus
RLUSD launched in December 2024 and has since reached a reported market capitalization of $2.5 billion. Ripple said the stablecoin supports activity across its payments infrastructure and serves as collateral within Ripple Prime.
Its reserves consist of U.S. dollar deposits, U.S. government securities and other cash equivalents. BNY remains the primary custodian of those reserves, according to the company.
Ripple also publishes monthly independent attestations covering RLUSD circulation and its backing assets. The bank’s collateral trustee function will operate alongside those reports. Ripple says RLUSD remains fully backed by the listed reserve assets.
Meanwhile, on the Ripple news, the company said its new federally supervised custody services will become available upon the bank’s opening.
The OCC decision places Ripple alongside Circle, BitGo and Fidelity Digital Assets in the national trust banking landscape.
The announcement concerns trust services, not broader retail banking authorization. Ripple said it would also work with regulators as the United States implements the GENIUS Act framework.
XRP Price and Ripple Treasury Developments
In addition to Ripple news other reports included an update on business treasury capabilities. That initiative focuses on liquidity management and round-the-clock financial operations for businesses.
Ripple described the treasury offering as another part of its enterprise financial services activities. The approval concerns RLUSD reserves and custody, rather than XRP crypto trading.
Separately, following the Ripple news announcement, XRP recorded an increase of 1.26% with the XRP price trading at $1.31 over the past 24 hours. According to CoinMarketCap data, the trading volume stood at approximately $1.68 billion with a market capitalization of $82.87 billion.
XRP ranked fifth, with 63.35 billion tokens circulating against a maximum supply of 100 billion.
