Metaplanet stock rose 2.46% on November 2, 2026, after the company reported buying back 96,447,400 common shares for ¥25.27 billion between October 14 and October 31, 2026.

The purchase forms part of a larger plan approved by its board in October. Notably, the company made the purchases on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Metaplanet Completes ¥25.27 Billion Share Buyback

Metaplanet shared a notice via its official X account on November 2, 2026. The firm reported that it acquired 96,447,400 common shares during the latest purchase period. The total amount spent reached ¥25,269,031,050, according to that notice.

The share buyback began on October 14 and ended on October 31, 2026. Metaplanet used market purchases on the Tokyo Stock Exchange to acquire the shares. The purchases also included off-auction own share repurchases through the ToSTNeT-3 system.

Notably, the completed purchase follows a board resolution passed on October 13. Under that approval, Metaplanet planned to acquire up to 200 million common shares. That amount represented 14.7% of its issued common shares as of September 30, excluding treasury shares.

The board also set a maximum purchase amount of ¥60 billion. The approved period runs from October 14, 2026, to October 13, 2027. This means the latest acquisition covers only part of the full period set aside for the share buyback.

Metaplanet has not announced in the notice that the entire approved amount has been used. The company may continue purchases within the approved limits and period, subject to market conditions and other factors.

Metaplanet Stock Trades Higher On November 2

Metaplanet stock ended Monday’s trading at ¥250, gaining ¥6, or 2.46%, during the session. The shares traded between ¥238 and ¥255, according to Google Finance data.

The company’s market value stood at ¥341.07 billion. Trading volume reached 16.53 million shares, while its average volume was listed at 21.12 million.

The stock remains below its 52-week high of ¥639. However, it has moved above its 52-week low of ¥192. The figures show the wide price range recorded over the past year. Metaplanet also reported earnings per share of negative ¥241. Its total shares outstanding stood at 307.52 million.

The latest share buyback update came as investors reviewed the company’s purchase activity and its broader capital plans. However, the notice did not state that the buyback was the direct reason behind Monday’s price increase.

Board Approval Leaves Room for Further Purchases

The October 13 resolution gives Metaplanet room to acquire more shares over the coming months. Its approved limit stands at 200 million shares, with total spending capped at ¥60 billion.

The company has until October 13, 2027, to carry out the approved purchases. Still, the board noted that market conditions and other factors could affect the orders. Some or all of the planned purchases may not take place.

The completed acquisition of 96,447,400 shares marks the amount purchased between October 14 and October 31. It does not represent the full 200 million shares covered by the resolution.

Metaplanet’s latest notice provides a breakdown of the shares acquired, the total amount spent, and the methods used. It also confirms that the purchases took place within the period approved by the board.

Investors will now watch for further company updates on its remaining share acquisition plans. Any additional purchases will depend on the terms of the October resolution and the conditions stated by the company.

For now, Metaplanet has confirmed the completion of its latest share buyback period, with 96,447,400 common shares acquired for ¥25.27 billion. The full program remains open until October 2027, subject to the board’s approved limits and conditions.
