On June 2nd, Axie Infinity, the non-fungible token (NFT)-based online video game, shared a tweet with the “competitive Axie Grants update.” In its official blog post, the game mentioned its “expansion to a range of games that can apply for grants to Axie Classic and Axie DoLL.”

There are a total of 11,751,837 Axies and 1,963,644 of total owners, while the total sales is around $2.6 Billion, as per data sourced from Axie Infinity. To date, Axie Infinity has enabled 94 tournaments through its grant programs.

The Axie Esports Grant Update

As the NFT-based online game added, the update will give the Axie community and its subcommunities more opportunities to “come together” and introduce their “skills in new ways.” Meanwhile, the NFT-based online game started accepting “grant applications on an ongoing, rolling basis.”

Axie Infinity provided the update on the outlook for competitive Axie as the previous Axie Esports grant was “winding down.” As mentioned in its blog, the NFT-based online game also proposed some “more interesting and fun tournament formats.”

According to Sky Mavis, the developer of Axie Infinity, there are four ongoing competitions which start in November 2022 on different dates. Esports 4 Everyone Dailes and ChompSquad Weekly Showdown are a few of their “global” competitions. AliG Weekly Cup and NFT Games Friday Night Brazil, on the other hand, are other ongoing competitions in LATAM and Brazil, respectively.

Besides Esports 4 Everyone Dailies, all these three competitions are offering some AXS tokens as a prize. Esports 4 Everyone Dailes, on the other hand, is offering a prize of $100 per day.

The Esports Grant 3 Schedule

Axie Infinity added in one of its blogs about Esports Grant 3 Schedule & AXS Allocations. As it added, for the grant, they received requests that “totaled about 2.5x the amount of financial support than they have the budget to provide. This was a great indicator of the interest in Axie Esports.”

However, the game further added that one of the biggest challenges was balancing support for tournament organizers. It has also shown excitement as it sees interest from outside organizations but feels strongly about continuing to reward organizers that have taken risks with us along the way and worked with us on previous grants.

The NFT-linked online game also mentioned that they have also made a specific effort to support a wide variety of events which include dailies, weeklies, leagues, and large one-off tournaments. The strategy with esports has been to run small, strategic experiments and double down on what works, as it added.

At press time, Axie Infinity (AXS) is trading at the price of $7.09 with a 24-hour trading volume of $59.98 million. AXS is up 2.44% in the last 24 hours, with a live market cap of $829.08 Million. The recent day’s performance of AXS tokens was mostly showing a bullish outlook.
