XRP Price Stalls Near $1.42 Despite Rising Ripple ETF Demand

Key Insights

  • Despite the newfound demand for ETFs, XRP remains in a trading range.
  • Ripple ETFs have seen a consistent interest, as reflected by the volume of investments made.
  • The XRP bulls are interested in the key price level of $1.60.

XRP price continued trading inside a narrow multi-month range despite steady institutional demand through spot Ripple exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The token hovered near $1.42 on Saturday after buyers again defended support above $1.28.

The sideways structure has persisted since February, with bulls unable to reclaim the key $1.60 resistance zone. Traders are now watching whether ETF inflows can finally trigger a breakout after months of consolidation.

XRP Price Holds Key Support as ETF Demand Builds

XRP price has largely moved sideways for months, reflecting a market still searching for directional momentum.

Buyers repeatedly defended the $1.28 support level, while sellers capped recovery attempts below $1.60. That range has become the main technical structure defining XRP’s medium-term outlook.

At the same time, institutional interest in spot Ripple ETFs has remained constructive. SoSoValue data showed U.S. XRP spot ETF products recorded $11.27 million in net inflows on May 5.

Recent sessions also showed intermittent outflows, highlighting that institutional demand remains uneven rather than aggressively bullish.

That mixed pattern helps explain why XRP price has failed to break higher despite improving ETF participation. Institutions continue adding exposure gradually, but spot demand has not yet forced a decisive shift in market structure.

XRP Ledger Activity Remains a Weak Spot

The bullish case for XRP still faces pressure from weak XRP Ledger network metrics.

While Ripple continues expanding into custody, treasury services, and institutional infrastructure, on-chain activity has remained relatively muted compared with other large-cap blockchain networks.

Ripple maintains that XRP supports global payments and blockchain settlement activity. However, market participants continue focusing on weaker decentralized finance growth, slower account expansion, and relatively low network fee generation.

That divergence matters because ETF inflows alone rarely sustain long-term rallies without improving blockchain usage underneath.

As a result, XRP continues trading primarily as a macro-regulatory asset tied to Ripple developments rather than as a fast-expanding ecosystem token.

XRP Price Technical Setup Points to Accumulation

Technically, XRP price still looks compressed. The token has formed a potential double bottom near $1.28. Its neckline sits close to $1.60, which remains the level bulls must clear.

A daily close above that area would strengthen the breakout case. It could open a move toward $2 if volume confirms the shift. Until then, the range remains the main story.

Analyst Egrag Crypto has taken a wider view. A May 9 report on his latest outlook said XRP has historically rallied after reclaiming the weekly EMA ribbon. His most realistic scenario pointed to a possible 1,250% expansion, though that view depends on a confirmed technical reclaim.

For now, the more practical signal is closer. XRP needs to hold above the $1.39 to $1.41 zone and challenge $1.45 to $1.47. A move through that supply area would put $1.60 back in focus.

If sellers push XRP below $1.28, the bullish setup weakens fast. That would invalidate the double-bottom structure and suggest ETF inflows are not enough to offset broader selling.

The next few sessions may indicate whether quiet accumulation is ending or whether XRP remains stuck within its February range. That makes volume confirmation essential, not optional, for traders tracking the next breakout attempt this week.

ETF inflows continue supporting sentiment, but stronger spot participation is still required before XRP can escape the range that has dominated trading since February.

The next few sessions may determine whether institutional accumulation finally translates into price expansion or whether XRP remains trapped below resistance despite improving macro conditions.
