TON Blockchain Back Online After a 7-Hour Outage

  • TON has faced its first major performance stress test with about 7-hour outage.
  • After much effort, block production is now returning to normal.
  • The Toncoin ecosystem is on the edge due to external factors like Durov’s arrest

The Open Network (TON) says its blockchain is back online and producing blocks normally. The chain’s restoration occurred after approximately 7 hours of outage due to network overload from DOGS adoption, which hit a major high. The blockchain experienced many challenges during the stall, leading to user frustration.

Challenges TON Blockchain Users Faced During the Outage

Notably, several validators needed help to clean the database of old transactions, which resulted in the consensus loss. Despite this challenge, TON assured users that all transactions would scale through and that no crypto assets would be lost due to the glitch.

During the network outage and stoppage of new block production, some exchanges, including Bybit and Binance, temporarily suspended TON deposits and withdrawals

However, in an X post shared by TON with community members, an attached photo showed an average of 110.3 transactions per second on the blockchain. As of press time, the Masterchain block height stood at 39,987,497, while the Workchain block height was at 45,346,733.

Although block production has been restored, and community members have expressed excitement, issues persist. Some users are complaining of delays or pending delivery of their transactions initiated before the outage.

A user named Hyper Focus says he remains patient as he has been waiting for the receipt of USDT from OKX via the TON network for the past 48 hours.

Is the Rising Popularity of TON Games Contributing to Network Strain?

The transaction volume resulting from massive adoption on TON remains consistent with the ecosystem, as witnessed by other crypto games like Hamster Kombat and Notcoin. These games launched on the Telegram platform have witnessed a historic spike.

This massive adoption comes from their reward appeal and the approximately one billion users on Telegram. These games have loyal audiences who believe in them and loyally support the platforms. Hamster Kombat, for instance, has the highest number of users from its engaged community looking to earn free crypto airdrop.

With over 150 million active users, the Hamster Kombat Tap-2-Earn game looks to replicate the success story of Notcoin. On its part, Notcoin has recorded significant developments in the broader cryptocurrency space regarding its play-to-earn focus.

Earlier in June, the Notcoin team initiated a massive burn event, sending $3 million worth of NOT to dead wallets to boost the token’s prospect. The move triggered a surge in price and trading volume at the time.

TON’s Performance Amid Market Uncertainty

Some analysts believe the TON blockchain has the potential to grow remarkably if the challenges confronting it are properly handled. Network overloads and block production must remain seamless to build investors’ confidence.

The arrest of Pavel DUrov, Telegram CEO, has had a major impact on the ecosystem.

Following Durov’s arrest and continued detention by the French authorities, TON has struggled to retain its elite position among the top ten digital currencies in crypto. TON’s market capitalization has dipped significantly by over 5% in the past week.

Data shows that the coin’s market volume has dropped by 26.24% to $694,472,939 in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, TON price trades at $5.37, representing a 0.32% drop in price.
